Mission: Race for the Reichstag
Scenario length: 45 minutes
Berlin, Germany, 30 April 1945
Background
The war was long lost,
Hitler was dead and his heir, Admiral Doenitz continued the
fight only to allow as many soldiers and civilians as possible
to escape the clutches of the avenging Red Army.
The Russians were
prepared to take the fight to the heart of the skeletal remains
of the Third Reich, the Reichstag in Berlin. With the
Parliament building in sight, the company commanders vied for
the honour of planting the Soviet flag on its roof. In this
final Russian assault small pockets of German defenders were
encountered. Frightened, fanatical and abandoned, these
soldiers of the fatherland prepared to make their last stand.
Scenario Note.
This is a scenario sees
one squad of fanatical German defenders versus 2 competing
squads of Russians. Only one Russian squad can win the
scenario however each Russian squad is prohibited upon firing on
each other.
C Block represents the
Reichstag
1st Company
of the 150th “Siberian Volunteer” Rifle Division
start at “P” Block, west side
2nd Company
of the 150th “Siberian Volunteer” Rifle Division
start at “J” Block, North west side
Battlefield boundary
restrictions:
The 1st
company must stay south of K and D Block but may move to east of
B Block
The 2nd
company must stay north of K and D Block but may move to east of
B Block
The Berlin Garrison must
deploy and remain east D Block.
Replacement Rules
The soviet squads can at
any time replace themselves in total at any time and do this up
to 3 times during the course of the battle. This means the
entire squad must be removed from play and then replaced all at
once. Replacements will be done at there respective starting
points.
The German squads have
no replacements
Victory
The first soviet squad to position their flag directly behind
and in the centre of the Reichstag wins the mission.
The Germans are expected
to be defeated, this is a lost cause after all, but if they can
hold off both soviet squads for 30 minutes they win.
