Mission: Zon with the Wind
Scenario length: 45 minutes

Background
ZON, Holland, 17th September 1944: 
Maxwell  Taylor’s 101st Airborne Division , task-organised for operation “Market Garden”, was augmented by the addition of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment.   In keeping with his mission to secure the 15 miles of highway stretching from Eindhoven north to Veghel, he planned to drop all three parachute regiments on the 18th.   To Colonel Robert Sink and the 506th went orders to seize the main highway bridge over the Wilhelmina Canal and the secure Eindhoven, the southernmost objective of the airborne carepet and only ten miles distant from the British armour waiting to surge forward from the Meuse-Escaut bridgehead.   With his regiment down in good order along the edge of the Zonche Woods,  Sink sends in the 1st Battalion racing to grab the great bridge.   There is almost no opposition… until the Paratroopers reached the northern outskirts of the Village of Zon…

Germans setup in buildings out of site enemy.

  • 1 x 7.92mm MG34 LMG – Semi or full auto allowed

  • 10 x 9mm MP40 (SMG – Berserkers on full auto or Spitfires on full auto)

  • 3 x Sturmgewehr (Assault Rifle 44, Pulse Rifle)

Hit Points 3 (they are only flak units not infantry).

Basic mission is to stop the US forces reaching the main south gate

Elements of the 1st Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment

Immediate Deployment

1 squad of up to 10 soldiers armed as

3 x M2 Carbine .30  Fire selectable between semi and full auto (Pulse Rifle or SMG)

7 x M3A1 “Grease Gun” SMG, full auto only, (Berserker)

Deployment after 10 minutes

2 x M1919A4 (Morita LMG)

3 x M2 Carbine .30  Fire selectable between semi and full auto (Pulse Rifle or SMG)

The two squads must be as even in possible in terms of numbers.

Hit points: 5

Deployment is North West corner of the large oval in the trees.

Victory 

The US forces receive 10 Victory for each US soldier that exits alive over the main south gate,  must remain at the south gate for 2 minutes upon arrival.

  • Major US win if 80% or more soldiers exit

  • Minor US win if 50% or more soldiers exit

  • Minor German win if 30% or more soldiers exit

  • Major win for Germans if 30% or less US soldiers exit.
